Undertoad（又作UNDERTOAD）是由LucasPucas创作的，现由LucasPucas、Patwhit、FmsDraw以及Blackerman共同持有的，[a]将任天堂开发的《超级马力欧》游戏系列及其衍生系列的角色、世界观等元素代入进Undertale的同人项目。
历程
2016年2月10日，LucasPucas绘制了Undertoad的第一章像素条漫，并将其投稿在了Imgur平台。[1][2]23日，该项目的官方Tumblr正式开始运营。[3]
同年4月26日，LucasPucas在SoundCloud发布了其为该项目创作的第一首曲目Go Weegee! + L-Trousle。[4]随后几年内，LucasPucas、Galactigal等人陆续为该项目制作了一系列官方曲目，但其大多与漫画现进度的内容无关，故在之后被列为非官方曲目。
2019年2月10日，在Undertoad三周年之际，项目官方在YouTube发布了翻新版本的官方曲目Once Upon a Toad和Arc of L-ightning。[5]此后团队成员开始制作漫画用曲，并着手对漫画第一季进行重制。
2021年7月17日，Undertoad团队成员在项目Tumblr账号发布公告宣布漫画无限期休载，该项目随之进入较长时间的沉寂期。[6]
2022年12月21日，Undertoad官方在YouTube发布了Undertoad第一季动画的预览，[7]并表示该项目即将推出动画系列，但漫画不会因此而重新连载。[8]

背景故事
很久以前，蘑菇王国与酷霸王国被卷入一场无休止的战争中。
直到有一天，一个神秘的第三方势力介入其中。
为了存活下去，双方不得不统一战线。
但即使他们联合起来，力量也不足以击溃毒菇王国。
幸存者们逃到了地下躲了起来，但很快他们就被发现了。
由于力量大不如之前，毒菇族只得暂时用屏障封锁住他们。
然而，在混乱之中……有人被落下了。
五年后……
传说，英雄们沉睡在日冕山之中。
但人们都说那里有去无回。[12]

Toad

“Toad”是一只未知其真实姓名及性别的青少年奇诺比奥，在部分场景中使用Shruby一名来指代。[13]其戴着点缀着紫色斑点的白色蘑菇帽，帽下藏着一头及地的棕发，[14]身穿一件白色衬衫和附有紫色条纹的蓝色马甲，搭配着白色短裤和棕色鞋子。
“Toad”通常表现得很沉默且面无表情，有时会通过微笑、肢体语言和以弹出符号[c]的形式来表达自己的感受，偶尔会展现自己的幽默个性。
Fiery

Fiery，又称教程花Fiery，是一朵有意识的火之花，其外观也与普通的火之花极其相似。
Fiery在一开始会以一副友善的面孔来引导主角，有时会露出马脚，[15]到最后则彻底展现其凶残而又恶趣味的本性。他热衷于嘲弄他人的生命，有时会直言不讳——称要取走别人的性命。[16]
目前尚未得知Fiery从何而来，而当别人询问自己是否同其他普通的火之花有一样作用时，他也不会作直接回应。[16]
Kammy Koopa

Kammy Koopa是一位年老的女性魔法喏库，曾是Bowser的得力助手。她与她在《纸片马力欧》里的形象的不同之处是：她的右眼下方有一道红色疤痕（旧版形象的上色战斗像素立绘则表现为右眼镜镜片破碎、左眼有被遮挡住的淤青[17]），尽管她极不情愿解释伤口的由来，[18]但其还是被揭露为与烧伤有关。[19]她身着一件在两袖和底部有粉色镶边的深紫色长袍，腰间系着棕色腰带。
Kammy Koopa对大多数人的态度都比较冷漠，对主角也不例外，在某些时候也会很毒舌。[20]但她也会给予主角帮助和一些必要的引导，以及会把暂时无法回到地表的主角带到自己家中。
在尚未翻新的旧版漫画中，Kammy Koopa疑似会烘焙蘑菇蛋糕。[21]
Gehrig Goom

Gehrig Goom，简称G. G.或Gehrig，是一只原创的栗宝宝角色。他头戴一顶红色毛毡帽，穿着一件无袖方格衬衫和一双白底黑布鞋。
Gehrig Goom喜欢耍贫嘴，有时会拿Kammy Koopa的年龄开玩笑。[22]他对谜题也颇有研究，在Ruins各处谜题做下了很多提示。
Mario

Mario是一位成年男性人类。他在原作中标志性的红色衬衫与蓝色工作裤，在这里被替换成了白衬衫搭配红色夹克与蓝色牛仔裤。
Mario性格温和，待人热情友善，在Sherborough深受当地居民喜爱，与人打招呼时常把“It's-a-me!”挂在嘴边。他也喜欢开玩笑，在他第一次与主角会面时就“不小心”烫到了对方的手。
Mario并不懒散，实际上他一直在各处给主角提供帮助，例如赶走攻击的Jr. Troopa、在菜单面板加上徽章功能等。在紧要关头时，他会出面让主角三思，有时甚至会冒风险替其打掩护。
Mario同样很关心自己的弟弟，每当弟弟感到难过时，他都会安慰他，并给予鼓励；倘若Luigi做了错事，他也会毫不犹豫地对其纠正。
作为一名水管工，Mario非常擅长管道修理。据称，他与Luigi仅用了一个月就建成了整个Sherborough的室内管道系统。[23]

Luigi是Mario的弟弟。他的装束与《超级纸片马力欧》中的L先生形态基本相差无几，除了原有的白手套、棕色工作靴以及可见的五官得以保留。
与他的哥哥不同，Luigi性格内向、懦弱，甚至有些愚笨。但常伪装成令人生畏的形象来虚张声势。他也很情绪化，一旦表面上的自信被打破，就会哭起来。
Luigi似乎对抓捕主角这件事不太上手，很多计划都以失败告终。但他在扑克方面非常擅长，在Podley's的扑克之夜中担任发牌员。
Yoshi

Yoshi是一只留着红色莫西干发型的绿色耀西宝宝。他起初为了“旁观Daisy打坏人”从Sherborough来到Waterwafer Trench，在后续与主角同行的过程中多次帮助其逃离卫队的追捕。
Pennington

Pennington是一位企鹅侦探，自称“一只大脑大的让人难以置信的企鹅”。在漫画第三季中，他将充当比之前的NPC更为重要的角色。[24]
Pennington透露自己正在写一篇关于Daisy的文章，并正在为此搜集信息。尽管有时他的推理能力相当糟糕。

Daisy是前萨拉萨大陆联合国的公主，现任Waterwafer Trench的卫队指挥官。她戴着一副形似卡面的面具，身穿黄领橙背心搭配白色短上衣与白裤，系着一条镶有花朵徽章的黄腰带。她的常用武器是一把可被召唤的黄光弯刀，这把弯刀可以被挥舞出刀锋，刀锋可以攻击对方也可以用来触发一些机关。
Daisy性急且具有很强攻击性，与Mario之间的争端也导致她与他的关系并不友好。尽管如此，她被暗示为非常护着Luigi。[25]她极度仇恨Shroob，以至于她也仇恨主角——被她认为属于Shroob一族。[26]
Peach
Peach是前蘑菇王国的公主，现已不再使用公主头衔[27]担任“类似科研人员”的角色。
Dr. E. Gadd
Dr. E. Gadd曾是联合王国的首席科学家，在推进两国和平共处的进程中发挥了关键作用，目前疑似已逝世。[28]
场景信息
Ruins
Ruins主要由蓝砖砌成，其内部含有许多的管道与谜题，还分散有问号砖。因其已成为“废墟”，故地砖和墙壁有不少明显的破损，大量的苔藓、藤蔓等植物与真菌遍布整个区域。其部分房间内修有人工水道，环形管道三号出口处的房间被积水淹没。
Ruins内的谜题主要由可按压瓷砖、跳跃平台与活动机关这三种机制组成，附有Gehrig Goom留下的提示。
Cool, Cool Forest
Cool, Cool Forest是一片由雪原、山地和针叶林构成的地区，其地面均被雪层所覆盖，在某些区域有着可通往其他地方的管道。在地面之下，有长着发光蘑菇的黯淡洞穴，和带有跳跃平台与管道的地下闯关区域。
Cool, Cool Forest的谜题主要为Luigi所布置的“陷阱”和地下闯关区域。
Sherborough
Sherborough是一座位于Cool, Cool Forest的小镇，其占地面积大且人口稠密，北部有着一条宽阔的大河，其中一条支流贯穿于小镇之中。
除了居住区，Sherboroughy还拥有商店、旅馆、酒吧、图书馆等场所。
Luigi's Challenge Cliff
Luigi's Challenge Cliff是位于Cool, Cool Forest与Waterwafer Trench交界处的高山，从山顶可眺望到远处的山脉，东边的山坡则直达Waterwafer Trench。
Luigi's Challenge Cliff被Luigi布置成了最终挑战试炼，主角将面对Cool, Cool Forest内出现的所有敌对角色给出的挑战，通过后即可与位于山顶悬崖的Luigi对峙。
Waterwafer Trench
Waterwafer Trench是一片类圆状的、呈紫色色调且多层的潮湿地带[29]地面被河流与深沟分成多个区域，木板桥则将多地连通起来。该地疑似为一处废弃矿场——裸露的紫水晶、断裂的矿车轨道以及人工矿道随处可见。[30]
Waterwafer Trench的谜题多以“ON/OFF开关”组成，除了角色的撞击互动，敌人的攻击同样能触发这些开关。

- Boo/害羞幽灵在重置版漫画将被降级为普通小怪，但其相关剧情尚未公开。[31]
- Pauline/宝琳是少数几个仅被提及但拥有形象的角色，她在该项目中充当Sherborough的镇长。
- Waluigi/瓦路易基的确会在该项目中出现，[32]但他不是也不曾是Mettaton站位的角色。[33]
